Clewiston

Clewiston plays an important role in almost all Ciprian books. Originally, Clewiston is the location of the Sleepy Time Motel, run by Rickie's older brother, Manny. Rickie often visits Manny there and has been known to store one or more of his vintage Studebakers at the motel. The pink establishment is on the banks of Lake Okeechobee, Clewiston's major tourist attraction. Rickie often sits on the patio at the back of the motel contemplating his life with a cold Tecate in hand, his favorite brew.

Clewiston is also where Rickie's former partner Boomer Falcone is Chief of Police. Boomer quit the Miami Beach Police Department shortly after Rickie left, though Boomer headed for the hinterlands to get away from his ex-wife. As Rickie likes to point out, Clewiston is exactly in the middle of nowhere.
