Marco Island

Marco Island is on the west coast, the most developed of Florida's "Ten Thousand Islands." It is, interestingly enough, the highest elevation in the state thanks to a giant mound of oyster shells deposited by the local indians before developers dredged the area for homes. It is also where Tyrone Willows-Hightower serves as the local police chief, a solitary black man among a sea of white faces. Marco Island is where Rickie investigates the bizarre life of Paolo Gauthier, son-in-law of Vincent Fortunato. Vincent sold Rickie his current boat.
